I feel very fortunate and SO lucky! I am 1 of 4 Nursing
Students who was accepted to participate in the University of Michigan International
Service Learning course to the Dominican Republic in my FINAL SEMESTER of
We bring our own medical equipment and supplies and set up
our own clinic and pharmacy to provide care to a population living in extreme
poverty. Many people have no running water and live in substandard conditions. The
community we will be serving has an urgent need for quality health care and
health education, and I believe that nursing school has prepared me to be able
to share both!
In preparation for this trip, I will be attending a series
of seminars related to the culture, government, social and healthcare needs of
the population I will be serving. In addition, I will be taking an extra
2-credit course along with the courses required for my final semester of
nursing school. I have applied for scholarships to cover a portion of the
expenses, but not all costs will be covered. I am responsible for paying for
the tuition, immunizations, lodging, international dues, and any other expenses
not covered by the scholarships.
I designed this T-Shirt to represent myself, and the
life-changing opportunity that I am so lucky to be a part of two months before
GRADUATION!! Any financial or medical supply donation would be greatly
appreciated in helping the people of the Dominican Republic.
Thank you for your time and interest!
